These terms govern your use of Punt (apunt.ie) (“we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Punt is not financial advice. Everything here — lessons, calculators, articles and guides — is general educational information about how money works in Ireland. It is not advice about your particular circumstances. Punt is not authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland to provide financial advice, investment advice, or credit intermediation, and does not do so. Before acting on anything you read here, consider speaking to a qualified adviser, or to MABS (the free State money advice service) on 0818 07 2000.
What Punt is
Punt is an educational platform about personal finance for students and early-career workers in Ireland. It provides written lessons, calculators and reference material, and — where your college takes part — access to services your institution offers through Punt.
The service is provided free of charge. We may add, change or remove features at any time.
Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us and for keeping your password secure.
You agree not to:
- Share your account credentials, or let anyone else use your account
- Attempt to access data belonging to another user or institution
- Probe, scan, or test the security of the service, or interfere with its normal operation
- Scrape, bulk-download, or republish our content without permission
- Upload anything unlawful, malicious, or that you have no right to share
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
You may close your account at any time by emailing admin@apunt.ie.
Accuracy of calculators and content
Our calculators produce estimates. They rely on assumptions, on rates and thresholds that change — often at each Budget — and on the information you enter. They cannot account for your full circumstances, and a result should never be treated as a statement of what you will actually pay, owe, receive or accumulate.
Where a calculator projects into the future — investment growth, pension values, mortgage costs — the figures are illustrative only. Past performance does not indicate future returns, and investments can fall as well as rise.
We take real care with accuracy and publish our workings on the methodology and sources pages. But we cannot guarantee that content is complete, current, or error-free. For anything that matters, check the authoritative source — Revenue, SUSI, the Residential Tenancies Board, or the Citizens Information Board.
Services provided through your college
Where your college takes part, Punt provides the software through which you access services your institution offers. To be clear about who does what:
- Your college decides. All assessment and outcome decisions are made by your institution under its own criteria. Punt has no role in those decisions and cannot influence the outcome.
- Give accurate information. Providing false or misleading information may affect the outcome, and your institution may act on that.
- Queries go to your college. Questions about the status or outcome of anything you submit should go to your institution’s student services or access office, not to Punt.
How that data is handled is set out in the privacy notice within your institution’s section of the site, alongside our general Privacy Policy.
Content and intellectual property
The lessons, articles, calculators, design and code of Punt are our intellectual property, or used under licence. You may read, print and share our content for your own personal, non-commercial use, and quote from it with attribution and a link.
Anything you upload — such as documents supporting a fund application — remains yours. You grant us only the permission needed to store and process it in order to provide the service.
We link to external sites we consider useful. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability.
Availability
We aim to keep Punt available and working, but we provide it “as is” and cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free service. We may suspend the service for maintenance, or withdraw it entirely, without notice.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your reliance on the content of this site, including financial loss, lost opportunity, or loss arising from a decision you made on the basis of a calculator estimate.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that is used to attempt access to other users’ data, or where required by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will give reasonable notice — by email or by notice on the site — before it takes effect. Continuing to use Punt after that point means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
